FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Knauf Insulation products are independently certified to ISO 9001:2015 and carry third-party certifications including GREENGUARD Gold for indoor air quality. Our EcoBatt® fiberglass line consistently matches or exceeds published R-values under ASTM C518 testing. Installers and contractors regularly cite dimensional consistency and ease of handling as standout qualities versus other major brands.

R-value measures thermal resistance – a higher number means better resistance to heat flow. R-13 batts are 3.5 inches thick and fit standard 2×4 wall framing. R-19 batts at 6.25 inches suit 2×6 walls and are common in cold-climate exteriors. R-30 batts (9.5 inches) are designed for attic floors and cathedral ceilings. The right R-value depends on your climate zone and building code requirements – our technical team can advise.

ECOSE® Technology is Knauf Insulation's proprietary bio-based binder system that replaces conventional petrochemical or formaldehyde-based binders used in fiberglass and mineral wool products. The result is a brown-coloured fiber (rather than yellow) that contains no added formaldehyde, has significantly lower embodied energy, and is softer and less irritating to handle. Products made with ECOSE® Technology carry GREENGUARD Gold certification.

Knauf Insulation products are available through a network of authorised distributors, building materials wholesalers, and specialist insulation suppliers across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. Use the Contact Us form or call our customer service line to locate the nearest stocking distributor in your region.

Both are reputable fiberglass batt products that meet published R-value claims. Key differences: EcoBatt uses ECOSE® bio-based binder (no added formaldehyde, GREENGUARD Gold certified), whereas Owens Corning PinkNext Gen uses a different binder system. EcoBatt has a distinctive brown colour and is typically regarded as softer to handle. Performance differences in real-world thermal measurements are generally within test variance. The best choice depends on local availability, pricing, and whether GREENGUARD Gold certification is a project requirement.
